| How It Works - IP Video Explained |
|
There is a wide range of cameras available - the one you choose will ultimately depend on the environment you wish to keep an eye on. All are ideal for the home or business environment and come with everything you need to get the camera installed, online and available for local or remote monitoring. At the checkout you will be offered the chance to pay for installation (if you require it) and a very modest monthly subscription of £6.99 per camera for the secure network video service. FalTech Security is happy to advise on the most suitable solution for your particular situation. The diagram below shows how a typical system connects together.
The camera in your home or business premises is positioned in such a way that you can see what it sees when accessed via the internet. It has a connection to your broadband router, and from there it connects to the internet via your internet service provider. You can log in to your personal account on the iP eye video server and watch what is occurring at any time of day or night. The camera is connected to your internet router by way of a standard (Cat5 or above) UTP cable, providing of course you have a spare port available. Some cameras have a wireless interface so cables are not required between the camera and the router, apart from briefly during initial setup. If the camera is triggered by movement, or any other parameter you may have set, it will start recording and send the video to the iP eye video server. Simultaneously it will send you an email and an SMS message. You may then access your camera via any means you have available via the internet. Additionally you can access your personal account on the video vault server and review what happened to cause the camera to be triggered. The server will keep up to 1000 recordings for you; if and when you get to 1000 it will start to delete the oldest recording to make way for the new. You can delete some or all recordings at any time. A typical hosted video kit contains the following:
Installation is a fairly straightforward process, although an installation service is available if required. The camera is installed in a place that affords the best view of the area to be monitored, within reach of an AC mains socket.
